As per the AGM held last month, the Carbon Neutrality Working Group provided a great presentation on ‘Climate Governance’ and ‘Net Zero’ following on from the member survey results we had received from you. You can download the full presentation below, but we wanted to provide you with further collateral to assist with your Scope 1, 2 and 3 such as how to calculate, what they are etc.
What is Scope 1, 2 and 3?

How do you calculate your emissions?
The CAAA suggest that to calculate Scope 1 and 2 emissions you use the Australian Government – NGER Emissions and Energy threshold Calculator 2021/2022 .
- Visit the website to download the template calculator – https://www.cleanenergyregulator.gov.au/NGER/Forms-and-resources/Calculators#Emissions-and-Energy-Threshold-Calculator-202021-and-user-guide
- Using the calculator and energy report document, for each of your facilities, the tool allows for up to six facilities, you enter the energy consumption and the Calculator will determine the associated Scope One and Two emissions. You can also see whether your organisation reached the threshold reporting status based upon the data you have entered.
- If you do require further guidance, the website contains user guides and fact sheets.
Scope 3 – The CN Working Group have created a template for compressor suppliers to estimate your Scope 3 emissions. There is a tab for portable compressor sales and stationary electric compressor sales. Simply enter in the number of units by kW range into column C and that total estimated emissions are calculated. The tool will be updated on an annual basis and the new version posted to the CAAA web site in February each year.
